The story of the day is this unexpected encounter between an oyster farmer and a blue shark in the Bassin d'Arcachon, in Gironde.

Cyril discovered a blue shark stuck on the beach due to the tide.

The man explained to the microphone of Europe 1 how he rescued him, without an ounce of hesitation.

This is a somewhat unexpected discovery made by this oyster farmer from the Bassin d'Arcachon.

Indeed, Cyril Foucaud discovered this Tuesday in Gujan-Mestras, near his oyster racks, a large blue shark stuck by the tide.

The animal, impressive, measures more than 2 meters.

Immediately, the man released his boat for a few moments to help him.

"I was coming up with my boat and I heard big ripples, big splashes. I went to look and saw a fin - a two-meter blue shark. I came face to face with it. Poor thing was stuck in a puddle. There was 15cm of water, then the water went down. Me, I can't let him die. I didn't think in fact, the adrenaline took over."

"It is very impressive"

Cyril Foucault then saved the blue shark.

"I harpooned him by the tail and I pulled him on the base to take him a little further where there was more water", says the man again.

"He tried to fight back two or three times at first, then afterwards, when he saw that I was making him regain water, he stopped. He let himself be done. We stayed five, ten minutes with him, to caress him, to let him calmly come to his senses. Then he said goodbye to us and left like that. It's very impressive. Super nice meeting. I don't think it won't happen twice in his life. life."

An image that will certainly remain etched in the memory of this oyster farmer.
