It is a phenomenon on which we must redouble our vigilance during these end-of-year celebrations.

SMS scams are on the rise this season.

Ever more realistic, these can have serious consequences on the finances of the victims.

So the authorities are trying to remind people of the right things to do to avoid falling into the trap.

"Your package is waiting for you: click here", "you have received your new social security card: click here"... They need no introduction.

Fraudulent SMS have become the daily life of the French.

Christmas obliges, the scammers are betting everything on the parcel messages to be recovered at this end of the year period.

"It's necessary to be vigilant"

And they just see.

"It seemed strange to me when I received this SMS", recognizes Moussa, victim of an attempted scam.

Waiting for a package, the young man received a text message asking him to pay 20 euros to recover his property.

"I clicked on the SMS link and you arrive on a site that is almost identical to the one I use to order. Frankly, it's very well done. And once on this site, I am asked for my data again banks," which caught Moussa's attention. 

"I said to myself: 'I place orders on this site, normally my card is registered. So I did not go all the way. But you have to be particularly vigilant," he admits at the microphone of Europe 1 .

A very good reflex which will have allowed the young man to save probably several hundred euros.

Because the consequences of these fraudulent emails can be catastrophic: new online purchases, siphoned bank accounts...

Faced with so much inventiveness, the instruction remains never to click on the links in the SMS and go back to the official site.
