Zelensky: Rebuilding Ukraine will be Europe's largest economic project

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described Ukraine's post-war reconstruction as Europe's largest economic project, during a speech to parliament in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Zelensky called on lawmakers to draft laws that would attract businessmen and investors, according to media reports.

According to the presidential administration, Zelensky also held a video conference with Larry Fink, head of the investment company "BlackRock", on the issue of reconstruction.

Zelensky said Ukrainians who fled the country should be returned.

Zelensky said that Ukraine makes its arms industry one of the most advanced in the world with the aim of restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity.

He added that more than 30 billion US dollars should be spent on Ukrainian defense in the coming years, according to Kyiv-based TV channel Freedom.

The president also set a goal in the next year of freeing all Ukrainians held by Russia as prisoners of war.

Since the war began in February, he said, 1,456 people have returned home.
