Police have arrested a couple carrying a tiger cub in the trunk of a car with firearms in Mexico.

According to Mexican media on the 28th local time, an unexpected scuffle occurred between the police and a vehicle violating traffic laws on Route 200 in El Marques, Queretaro the day before.

Despite the stop order, the driver attempted to escape and was eventually stopped by the police who blocked the car.

Police arrested a couple who were driving a vehicle on charges of obstruction of justice and found a tiger cub along with four guns and 98 cartridges in the trunk of the car.

In the video posted on the official Twitter account of the El Marques Police, the tiger was put on a leash like a dog and put in a vehicle.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the transport of the tiger and the firearm against the couple, while sending the tiger cub to a specialist to take care of it.

Keeping animals such as tigers and lions per se is not completely illegal in Mexico, as long as you have official documents and proof of ownership.

However, it is said that there are many cases of smuggling due to difficult ownership procedures, and that there are not a few cases where authorities are caught because they do not comply with strict safety regulations.
