Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation destroyed two militants in Kabardino-Balkaria who were preparing a terrorist attack in Chegem on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services.

205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Preparation for a terrorist act” stopped the activities of two previously convicted citizens of Russia <...>, who, on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, were preparing a terrorist act in the city of Chegem of the KBR.

After committing the crime, they planned to leave for Ukraine to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, ”the message says.

It is noted that on December 26, the attackers, while in the suburbs of Nalchik, when they tried to detain the security forces, offered armed resistance and were neutralized by return fire.

According to the agency, at the scene of the incident, IEDs based on a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder with a capacity of about 2 kg in TNT equivalent with striking elements, an AK-74 assault rifle, a PM pistol and ammunition were seized.

According to the press service of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of the incident under Part 2 of Art.

222 (“Illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of weapons committed by a group of persons”), Part 2 of Art.

222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of explosives or explosive devices committed by a group of persons by prior agreement”), as well as Art.

317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers”).

According to the investigation, two armed men were found in a forest near Nalchik at about 05:00 on December 26, 2022.

After the law enforcement officers demanded to surrender, they opened fire from the firearms they had with them.

Two attackers were eliminated by return fire.

“During the inspection of the scene, investigators and criminologists of the investigative department discovered and seized several firearms, ammunition and an improvised explosive device.

The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing," the statement said.

Opposition to the activities of Ukrainian special services on the territory of the Russian Federation

On December 25, four saboteurs were destroyed, who attempted to penetrate the territory of the Bryansk region from Ukraine.

One of them was recruited back in 2016 and was a “supporter of the Ukrainian ideology.”

For money, he transmitted information about the location of objects of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
