Netanyahu government: Settlement expansion in the West Bank is our first priority

The ultra-Orthodox government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will be sworn in tomorrow, Thursday, has announced that settlement expansion in the West Bank will be at the top of its list of priorities.

The Likud party, led by Netanyahu, issued the main features of the new government's policy, the first of which was to bring about "advancement and development of settlement throughout the Land of Israel - in Galilee, the Negev, the Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria," which are the biblical names for the West Bank.

Most of the international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal and an obstacle to peace with the Palestinians.

It is noteworthy that Netanyahu's new government, the most religious and strict in the history of Israel, consists of hard-line Orthodox parties, an extremist religious faction, and his Likud party.
