The police offices in both Ronneby and Sölvesborg had to close so that the staff could cover the passport work.

The JO reports against the Police Authority poured in and one of them came from a neighbor of Karlskrona.

Despite the great demand for new passports, not all have been picked up yet.

The police have warned that the passports will be destroyed if they are not collected in three months - a total of up to 60 passports have had to be canceled since April.

- In a normal year, there are around 20 in total, says Maria Lilley, the police's group manager for support and service in Karlskrona.

"High time for sports holidays"

Now the waiting times have reached a more normal state compared to last spring, the delivery time for a pass is currently around 24 days.

But to avoid ending up in the same situation before the sports holiday, Maria Lilley urges the public to check their family's passports well in advance of any trips.

- It is high time to start thinking about making an application if you need a new passport and are going to travel during the sports holiday.

Right now you can get an appointment the same day with us in Karlskrona.
