About 230 people have been rescued after a boat carrying Rohingya, a Muslim minority who fled Myanmar, was found adrift off the coast of Indonesia.

According to UNHCR = United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, two ships carrying Rohingya, a Muslim minority in Myanmar, were found drifting off the coast of Aceh, Indonesia. A total of about 230 people were rescued this week.

Among them, at the evacuation center in Acehbsar province, the protected people received relief supplies on the 28th.

As for the Rohingya, more than 700,000 people fled to neighboring Bangladesh and were forced to live in refugee camps after a large-scale military mopping-up operation in Myanmar in 2017. There is no end to the number of people trying to cross over to other countries by boat in order to escape.

The people who were rescued this time are also believed to have left Bangladesh and headed for Indonesia and Malaysia, and the two ships were adrift for about a month due to engine failure, etc., and about 20 people died during that time. I'm here.

UNHCR is calling on countries to cooperate in protecting these Rohingya people.
