Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country's discovery of new reserves of natural gas in the Black Sea estimated at 58 billion cubic meters, and this came yesterday, Monday, in a speech after he chaired a government meeting at the presidential complex in Ankara.

Erdogan stated that the Turkish exploration ship, Fatih, had discovered new reserves estimated at 58 billion cubic meters of natural gas, in the "Chai Juma" well, at a depth of 3 thousand and 23 meters, under the waters of the Black Sea, and Turkey had previously announced the discovery of 540 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Natural gas in the Black Sea.

Regarding the previous discoveries, Erdogan stated that the analysis of the data showed that the previously discovered reserves are now estimated at 652 billion cubic meters, after they were estimated at 540 billion cubic meters.

He explained that Turkey's total reserves of natural gas discovered in the Black Sea increased by 170 billion cubic meters, reaching 710 billion cubic meters (with the new discovery in the "Chay Goma" well and new estimates of previous discoveries).

"Our new discoveries of natural gas (in the Black Sea) will open the door to similar discoveries in the neighboring geological fields in the region, and we will start new exploration operations as soon as possible," the Turkish president added.

Erdogan stated that the total value of natural gas reserves discovered by Turkey in the Black Sea amounts to about one trillion dollars at current prices, and stressed his government's determination to make Turkey an energy center for the Caspian Sea, the Mediterranean and the Middle East regions.

"We will connect east and west not only with our bridges in Istanbul and Çanakkale, but also with energy bridges," he added.

The total production of the public and private sectors of oil in the country is 80 thousand barrels per day, and Turkey aims to raise production to 100 thousand barrels per day next year.

Erdogan stressed that Turkey's ultimate goal is to completely end dependence on foreign oil and gas as soon as possible, and to declare its independence in the field of energy.
