In Senegal, the gynecologist who had established the medical certificate of Adji Sarr, the young woman who accuses opponent Ousmane Sonko of rape, says he is harassed and fears for his life.

While the case is still before the courts, individuals he does not identify would follow him and regularly attack his car.

He therefore asks to be protected.

The NGO Amnesty International supports him and supported his request to the Minister of the Interior.

He is a key player at the heart

of an explosive politico-judicial affair.

In February 2021, Dr. Alfousseyni Gaye was called to examine Adji Sarr, masseuse at the Sweet Beauty salon.

The young woman then said that she had been raped several times by opposition political leader

Ousmane Sonko

.

Dr. Gaye draws up a medical certificate which mentions a tearing of the old hymen.

Today, he says he is harassed, followed and threatened with death.

Last week, in an interview given to the online media, Kewoulo, he spoke publicly to "

take the Senegalese to witness

 ".

According to him, not a week goes by without his vehicle being attacked and people trying to steal his cell phone.

His home was also reportedly targeted by intrusion attempts.

Seized by the doctor, the NGO Amnesty International arrested, Friday, December 23, the Minister of the Interior, Antoine Diome, to request the protection of Dr. Gaye.

According to the organization's director in Senegal, Seydi Gassama, the state has an obligation to protect witnesses in a legal case.

The arrest of Ousmane Sonko, in March 2021, accused of rape and death threats, sparked demonstrations in which thirteen people lost their lives.

The candidate for the 2024 presidential election has yet to be judged.

Dr. Alfousseyni Gaye asserts that he simply did his job and that he is not participating in any form of conspiracy.
