Yes, as you just saw, both former President Lee Myung-bak and former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Gyeong-soo were included in the final year-end special pardon.

In the case of former President Lee, a sentence of 17 years in prison was confirmed, including embezzling tens of billions of won of company money from auto parts maker DAS.

Former President Lee is currently hospitalized at Seoul National University Hospital as the execution of his sentence has been suspended for health reasons.

Former President Lee explained that a date for his discharge from the hospital has not yet been set and that he would not immediately announce his position on pardon.

On the other hand, former governor Kim, who was sentenced to two years in prison for the 'druking comment manipulation case', had only about 5 months left in prison.

Therefore, the concern was whether to receive a lottery rather than whether it would be pardoned, but in the end, it was not included in the lottery target.

Although he was pardoned for this reason, he will not be able to appear in the election until May 2028, so his political activities are still restricted.

This special pardon and lottery are for a total of 1,373 people.

Politicians and key public officials who were not included in the last Liberation Day pardon were included, such as former Deputy Prime Minister Choi Kyung-hwan, former NIS director Seong-hun Won and former lawmaker Seong-tae Kim, and former lawmaker Byung-hun Jeon.

Except for these figures, a small number of livelihood masters, and severely ill patients, most are election masters, and business figures were not included.

Those pardoned today are scheduled to be released at 0:00 am tomorrow.
