As Solovyov explained, most fraudulent call centers are located outside of Russia (as a rule, in Western Ukraine, as well as Poland, Germany and the UK), which makes it much more difficult to identify intruders.

According to him, according to the results of the public project to combat telephone fraud "Don't let yourself be deceived", in most cases, attackers use the substitution service, which allows them to generate any numbers, including the reception and hotlines of Russian control, law enforcement and supervisory authorities .

“This misleads citizens, and when you try to call back on this number, the connection fails.

Fraudsters build a conversation with potential victims according to certain scenarios.

They have been developed with the help of specialists and psychologists, have been tested and adapted to the mentality and worldview of Russian citizens,” the lawyer warned.

However, when the scenario breaks (the potential victim behaves differently than the scammers suggest), the perpetrators of the criminal plan, as a rule, are lost and do not know how to bring it to the end, Solovyov added.

In addition, he stressed that the most common types of telephone fraud are situational, traditional and high-tech.

“Situational telephone fraud is associated with events, phenomena and trends taking place in society.

For example, fraud in the sale of clothing, electronics and furniture brands that left Russia, fraudulent schemes related to partial mobilization, fraud on holidays, fundraising to help refugees and other people in need, ”explained the specialist.

At the same time, as the interlocutor of RT said, traditional telephone fraud is an established and most effective way of deception.

“Suspicious activity on a bank account, investing and profitable investments in high-yield securities, receiving various prizes and bonuses, taking a mirror loan so that the attackers do not issue another loan for the victim, calls from “law enforcement officers”, security officers of banks and the Central Bank, trouble with relatives , changing the phone number on the Gosuslugi portal or in the bank profile,” he added.

However, nuances are constantly being added to traditional methods of fraud that take into account the efforts of specialists and the state to counteract these crimes, the expert warned.

High-tech telephone fraud is due to the development of technologies and mobile communication services, the interlocutor of RT explained.

“Today, scammers can simulate a conversation on a messenger with a person who is well known to the victim, send an SMS with a request to call back at the specified number, while after the connection no one answers for a long time, and at this time all the money is debited from the phone account and a solid debt is formed, using SMS and links, a virus is launched into the phone, the action of which is aimed at debiting funds from the account, under the pretext of connecting a new convenient service, a code is sent to the subscriber allegedly from the cellular company, after entering which money is also written off, ”Soloviev emphasized.

The most important rule is not to answer unfamiliar numbers, the lawyer advised.

“We each have our own social circle, it is better to stick to it.

If this is not possible, then at the first sign of fraud, interrupt the conversation.

Follow the rules of reasonable care: do not disclose your personal financial information to anyone, ”he added.

In addition, he recalled that scammers build the illusion of a limited choice for the victim, putting him in a temporary time pressure.

“If a person is frightened by incoming information or feels discomfort from it, it is necessary to interrupt the conversation, take a break, calm down and analyze everything that is happening, think about the situation, ask for help from the outside,” RT’s interlocutor concluded.

Earlier, Solovyov warned in an interview with RT about the activation of scammers who pose as employees of regional police departments and inform the Russians about the alleged transfer of funds to Ukraine on their behalf.
