Cameroonian artist Penda Dalle, one of the pillars of makossa, died on Monday, December 26, in Paris.

He contributed to the popularity of this rhythm in the 80s and 90s.

After a stay in Cameroon, he returned to France for medical follow-up.

Penda Dalle died at the age of 64 after surviving two strokes, according to his relatives. 

The artist will have inspired many artists, including the Cameroonian musician Nicole Mara who speaks of the " 

particular color

 " that Penda Dalle brought to makossa.

His guitar… it was what brought everyone back to the track because he had a rather particular and personal touch.
