Savannah, an 18-month-old Siamese cat, narrowly escaped death on December 15 in Sablonnières (Seine-et-Marne).
Someone fired two air rifle bullets into the feline's head.
His master explained to
Pays Briard
that with a weapon of this type, the author of the shots had to immobilize the animal and shoot at close range.
The cat had to be operated on.
One of her eyes was removed but Savannah should survive.
However, her visual impairment could interfere with her, for example when she crosses a road.
Relieved, the cat's family does not intend to stop there.
A complaint was filed and a letter recounting the facts was sent to the mayor of Sablonnières.
The letter evokes a “despicable, cowardly, cruel and gratuitous aggression”.
An investigation has been opened.
The masters of the cat think they know in which sector the author(s) of the shots are housed since Savannah evolves without moving away from its home by more than 500 m.
The Siamese cat had been taken in by her current owners who had found her as a baby behind a hypermarket.
