On the morning of the 26th, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced through the Russian state news agency that it had been attacked by a Ukrainian drone.



"The drone was shot down, but debris fell, killing three Russian soldiers," it said.



It also said that there was no damage to the aircraft at the base.

The Engels Air Force Base is a strategically important base for the Russian military, where many strategic bombers are deployed. Independent media reported that two Tupolev Tu-95 long-range strategic bombers had been damaged.
