The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia announced the liquidation of the terrorist community in the Urals and North Caucasus federal districts.

As noted in the center of public relations of the department, the work was carried out in cooperation with the Investigative Committee and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.

As a result, the terrorist community was liquidated - its organizer and 18 participants created an "branched interregional network for resource support" of the Islamic State.

On the instructions of IS emissaries, members of the community transported militants from Russia to the territory of Syria and Ukraine to conduct military operations against the Russian military, as well as finance terrorism and justify terrorist activities, the FSB noted.

In the period from December 2021 to the present, 11 Russian citizens, including the organizer of a terrorist community, were detained and arrested by court decisions in Dagestan, Chechnya, the Tyumen Region and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

In addition, eight members of the IS forces in Syria have been put on the international wanted list.

In the places of residence of the accused, law enforcement officers found means of communication, payment instruments, as well as computers in which they found photo and video materials about the participation of members of the community in the hostilities in Syria in the ranks of the IS, as well as in the nationalist units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Ukraine.

It is noted that two members of the terrorist community have now been sentenced by the courts to long terms of imprisonment.
