Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that his country is ready to agree on acceptable solutions with all partners to settle the conflict in Ukraine.

In an interview broadcast on Russian television, clips of which were broadcast on Sunday, Putin accused Kyiv and its supporters of refusing to sit at the negotiating table, and accused the West of seeking to divide "historic Russia".

Putin said that Russia is moving "in the right direction. We defend our national interests and the interests of our citizens and our people, and we have no other choice but to protect our citizens."

For his part, Mikhail Podolak, adviser to the Ukrainian president, said that Russia does not want negotiations and that it is trying to avoid responsibility and continues to kill civilians, adding that Putin needs to return to reality.

He continued, saying in a tweet on Twitter, "Russia unilaterally attacked Ukraine and killed its citizens... Russia does not want negotiations, but is trying to evade responsibility."

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, Vice President of the Russian Security Council, warned that the world will continue to walk on the brink of a third world war and a nuclear catastrophe, if security guarantees are not provided to Russia, stressing that his country will do its best to prevent this from happening.

Medvedev added in press statements that the new disarmament agreements are unrealistic and unnecessary at the present time, warning that if Moscow does not obtain security guarantees, the tension will continue indefinitely.

The Russian official stressed that his country does not need to negotiate with the West, and that the difference between the two parties is much more than what unites them.

Pointing out that the events of the past year nullified the possibility of trust and respectful dialogue.

Gas export

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Moscow is ready to resume gas supplies to Europe via the Yamal-Europe pipeline.

"The European market is still important with the continued gas shortage, and we have every opportunity to resume supplies," Novak was quoted as saying by TASS news agency, noting that his country is ready to negotiate an increase in supplies via Turkey after the establishment of the gas center there.

Novak stressed that the European market will remain important with the continued gas shortage, and that Russia has every opportunity to resume supply operations, and said that replacing or removing Russia from the global market map is impossible.

Gas usually flows through the Yamal-Europe pipeline to the west, but it has mostly been cut off since December 2021 after Poland stopped buying from Russia based on gas stored in Germany.


Air alert

On the ground, the Ukrainian authorities announced an air alert in the capital, Kyiv and other cities, and called for the acceleration of Western military supplies.

She said that the Russian forces renewed their bombing of Kherson, Zaporizhia and Mykolaiv provinces, and that the Ukrainian army, in return, dealt blows to the Russian forces and held the battle lines, especially in the rural areas of Zaporizhia.

She added that the Russian side focused on the results of the civilian casualties that were recorded after the Ukrainian bombardment of the areas it controls in Luhansk, as a result of the fall of American HIMARS missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also warned his country's citizens of new Russian attacks during the remaining few days of this year.

During his daily speech via video, Zelensky said on Sunday evening, "We must realize that our enemy will try to make this period dark and difficult for us," noting that Russia has lost everything it could lose this year, "but it is trying after the missile attacks on our country and the Gaza Strip." Our energy is to compensate for its losses with the tricks of the promoters of its ideas."


Kherson bombing

In Kherson, the military administration of Kiev said that the city was bombed with artillery and mortar shells about 70 times last night, killing 13 civilians and wounding dozens.

The Ukrainian General Staff also announced that its forces had bombed a command center of the Russian forces in Kherson province, and the spokesman for the General Staff, Alexander Stobun, said that the Russian forces continue to bomb Ukrainian towns and villages in order to intimidate civilians.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the elimination of about 220 Ukrainian soldiers during the military operations on Saturday, and the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, confirmed the continuation of launching offensive operations against the positions of the Ukrainian forces on the Donetsk axis.

For his part, Al-Jazeera correspondent stated that the military operations between the Russian and Ukrainian forces in the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine are still continuing, adding that many neighborhoods have been subjected to great destruction as a result of the mutual shelling between the two sides.
