In the Tutaevsky district of the Yaroslavl region, after shooting 20 moose, a criminal case was initiated on the fact of illegal hunting (part 2 of article 258 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), which was organized by one of the local residents, using his official position.

According to local media, we are talking about the 73-year-old chairman of the regional society of hunters and fishermen Vasily Baranov.

He faces a maximum sentence of three to five years in prison on charges.

“On December 23, 2022, the duty unit of the Tutaevsky Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia received a statement from the inspector of the Department of Environmental Protection and Nature Management of the Yaroslavl Region that in the forest near the village of Popadino, Tutaevsky District, unidentified persons had illegally hunted moose.

During the investigation, the police found the suspect.

Animal carcasses were found not far from the place of illegal shooting.

It was established that the suspect issued 12 special hunting permits, in fact, 20 wild animals were shot, ”the official statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Yaroslavl Region says.

According to the department, the damage caused by the killing of eight "extra" moose amounted to 640 thousand rubles.

The police also noted that as part of the investigation, forensic examinations are being carried out, and the court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for 30 days for the suspect.

It is also noted that he had no previous convictions.

Valery Kuzenkov, editor of the Okhota magazine, told the details of this incident on his VKontakte page.

“According to local hunters, 20 moose were put in one pen.

There were a lot of people from the capital, and everyone wanted an elk for the New Year.

I thought we would kill moose in Russia in five years ... Apparently, I'm wrong.

It will happen sooner.

Much.

Thank God we got it.

It's up to the governor.

The organizer is the chairman of the regional hunting community.

And all the state hunting inspectors were on that day at the annual reporting meeting.

Here we think.

The result of this hunt: 12 cows (all with embryos), five bulls and three calves.

Everything was filmed on video.

The operator managed to escape,” he wrote.

According to 76.ru, the detainee invited nine Muscovites to hunt.

“They lived in the Rybinsk region, hunted in Tutaevsky.

As far as I know, there were eight permits-licenses, which ended in early January.

Rushed to shoot.

They made a paddock, and the elk jumps out of this paddock in a huge crowd.

And these hunters began to shoot at everyone in a row ... Such a huge shootout is chaos.

The state determines the limits, production quotas.

There is a state system for managing hunting and economic activities - a production limit is determined for each farm, otherwise we will undermine the population.

If there was no noise, these moose could be quietly taken out.

I posted this so that the moose that were shot would not be stolen.

Otherwise, they will divide, boil the stew, put the money in your pocket, ”Valery Kuzenkov told the publication the details of the incident.

The rest of the "hunters" are now wanted.

The leadership of the region has already reacted to the situation with illegal elk hunting.

The governor of the region, Mikhail Evraev, called the incident a "massacre" and promised to control the investigation of the criminal case.

“I took this fact of illegal hunting of moose and poaching under my personal control and I will make sure that all those responsible are held accountable for this.

The perpetrators of such crimes will receive the maximum penalty provided for by law, ”the press service of the government of the Yaroslavl region quotes the governor.

The regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that they had applied to the supervisory authority with the initiative to transfer the case from the bodies of inquiry to the proceedings of the Investigative Committee.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region recalled that free hunting for moose is prohibited everywhere.

“Shooting of animals is allowed only with special permits - licenses issued by the hunting departments.

Hunters who have received licenses to shoot moose must know the rules for hunting this large and valuable animal, ”the department stressed.

Recall that in April 2022, a court in the Saratov region sentenced Valery Rashkin, a State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, who illegally shot a moose on the night of October 29, 2021, to three years in prison.

After the verdict, Rashkin was prematurely deprived of his deputy mandate.
