Christmas is usually marked by the joy of receiving gifts, but for some, the disappointment is great.

It is not uncommon for people to find themselves embarrassed when opening gift packages.

Between a lack of idea and a gift next to the plate, Europe 1 recovered the testimony of certain French people.

A successful Christmas?

During the holiday season, most people are happy with their gifts, but for some, the disappointment can be overwhelming.

A tense smile when discovering a gift at the foot of the tree?

Don't worry, it's happened to others.

At the microphone of Europe 1, several people testified to their experiences.

As for this young man who has already found himself in an embarrassing situation.

"When I am offered a book on a political or other subject, I try not to show my disappointment. But when I was little, I thought it was just a book," he explains.

For others, the gift is not necessarily age-appropriate.

This is the case of this young woman.

"My father, each time, he made gifts that he would have liked to have had when he was a child. With the Playmobil, I had the pirate ship", she laughs.

40% of French people have or plan to resell their gifts

Read the letter addressed to Santa Claus carefully and, failing that, rack your brains a little bit, otherwise it might show.

"For my mother, we gave her a jar of apricot jam. The gift came from my family and more. It's that we really have no idea", says a girl questioned on the subject.

The gift is a little cheap or, it's another case, completely off the mark.

Maryline, for example, has experienced it.

"A photo by a photographer when I hate being photographed. I thanked you very much but pushing the date back again and again. It was really the rotten gift for me", she explains.

According to an estimate published last year, just over 40% of French people have already resold or considered reselling the Christmas gifts they had received.
