On December 23 local time, the United States signed the "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023" into law.

The bill contains a number of negative clauses related to China, wantonly manipulating issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang, smearing China's development path for no reason, grossly interfering in China's internal affairs, and seriously damaging China's sovereignty, security and development interests.

We express strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this.

There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China.

Taiwan has no other status under international law other than being part of China.

This is not only a historical and legal fact that cannot be changed, but also a status quo that cannot be challenged.

The United States has made serious commitments on the Taiwan issue in the three Sino-US joint communiqués.

The US has no right to override domestic law over international law, let alone interfere in China's internal affairs.

Any attempt to "use Taiwan to contain China" and support and condone separatist forces for "Taiwan independence" will only further aggravate the tension in the Taiwan Strait and further impact the political foundation of China-US relations.

Hong Kong and Xinjiang affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no foreign country has the right to interfere.

China always adheres to the path of peaceful development, upholds a common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept, and firmly pursues a defensive national defense policy. The right of the Chinese people to pursue a better life is sacred and inviolable.

We strongly urge the U.S. to abandon the Cold War zero-sum mentality, refrain from implementing the negative clauses in relevant bills related to China, refrain from underestimating China's firm will and strong ability to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and refrain from taking chances on issues involving China's sovereignty and core interests. Adventure mentality.

Any provocative actions that attempt to interfere in China's internal affairs and harm China's interests will be firmly countered by China.
