- Before, I only worked with births in the delivery room.

With this way of working, my work becomes more stimulating and I broaden my skills, says Åsa Hemmilä.

Åsa is one of five midwives participating in the project Din barnmorska.

The project was started in the autumn and in it pregnant women with fear of childbirth will see the same midwife during pregnancy, delivery and the first period after delivery.

- It's fun to be involved in the start of something and design how we want to work.

"Getting to reap the rewards"

The pregnant women who want to be part of the project are initially registered at their usual health center and then transferred to the midwives in the project.

The first child was born just before Christmas.

- Getting to "harvest the fruit" after being part of a pregnancy feels great fun.
