In the aftermath of the shooting in Paris, several demonstrations are held in tribute to the Kurds killed.
Clashes occurred in Marseille at the end of the demonstration, with in particular two police cars parked in front of a police station set on fire and the throwing of projectiles, according to an AFP journalist and the police.
In the middle of the afternoon, the procession, which counted up to 1,500 people, was dispersed by the police using tear gas after its arrival in front of the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture while many projectiles were thrown in the direction of the police by demonstrators, observed an AFP journalist.
Several garbage cans were burned in front of the building.
Four police officers slightly injured
After these scuffles, some demonstrators set fire to many trash cans and pallets across a downtown artery linking the prefecture to Avenue de la Canebière from where the procession had left.
Below this avenue, two empty police cars parked in front of the police station of the first arrondissement, in the Noailles district, were burned, noted an AFP journalist.
The police station was also stoned, said the Prefecture of Police and police cars degraded by projectiles.
Three people were arrested and four police officers were slightly injured, according to the same source.
“Justice for the Murdered Kurds”
The procession marched from the top of the Canebière behind large black banners bearing the slogans "Justice for the murdered Kurds" and "I am Kurdish", taken up by the demonstrators.
Sahin Reis, 27, explained to AFP that he was there "to demonstrate for Kurdistan, to denounce Turkey and against racism".
"I don't know if the Kurdish community was targeted in particular (in Paris yesterday) but this is not the first time that we have been victims" of attacks, he said, in reference to the assassination of three activists Kurds in Paris in 2013.
