The headquarter reporter learned from the Emergency Management Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region that at about 13:40 on December 24, an underground mine collapse occurred in Yining County West Gold Yili Co., Ltd. (formerly known as Axi Gold Mine), Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang. When the accident happened, a total of 40 people were working underground, 22 people went up the well safely, and 18 people were trapped underground.

  After the accident, the Autonomous Region, Yili Prefecture, and Yining County quickly launched emergency plans, organized emergency response, mine professional rescue, fire rescue, health and other forces to rush to the scene, and established an on-site emergency rescue headquarters to carry out rescue work.

The autonomous region requires an emergency response to major production safety accidents to be launched immediately, to rescue the trapped people and minimize casualties; to implement search and rescue in a scientific and safe manner to prevent secondary disasters; to organize strong medical treatment forces to ensure that the rescued people receive timely treatment.

The comrades in charge of the autonomous region have led emergency, firefighting, health and other department personnel to the scene to guide the local mobilization of rescue forces and equipment to carry out rescue work with all their strength.
