An American woman has been told the story of winning a lottery worth 200 million won while playing a gift exchange game with her co-workers on Christmas.

According to foreign media such as the Washington Post on the 21st local time, Laurie Janes, a dental coordinator living in Kentucky, USA, held a Christmas party with her colleagues at her latest job.

At the party, 'White Elephant Gift Exchange', a game played during Christmas in the US and Canada, was held.

The game starts with all the participants who have prepared wrapped presents, drawing lots to determine the order in which the presents will be drawn.

Then, when the first player selects and reveals a gift, the next player can either steal the previous player's gift or choose one of the unwrapped gifts.

A contestant whose gift is stolen may also steal someone else's gift or choose a new gift, but the game ends after three exchanges.

At the beginning of the game, Rory's gift was a $25 gift certificate from a large discount store.

However, it was soon taken away by his colleague, and when it was her turn again, Laurie took the scratch lottery ticket the other colleague was holding.

After the game, Laurie started scratching lottery tickets with his teammates.

Then, in the first lottery, I won 50 dollars (about 65,000 won), and in the second lottery I checked, I confirmed the winning result of 175,000 dollars (about 230 million won), the highest prize in the lottery.

Lori immediately called his family to inform them of the news.

Her husband recalled the situation at the time, saying, "I didn't believe it at first," and "I was convinced when I heard people congratulate me over the phone."

"I couldn't believe it, so my colleagues and I took out the calculator and checked it again," Lori said, adding, "I even scanned it on the lottery app."
