What is the truth about Baghdad receiving the Italian Prime Minister with the Irish flag?

Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni's visit to Iraq received a lot of controversy on social media, after she appeared with her Iraqi counterpart, Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, while it appeared that behind them was the flag of the Republic of Ireland in the background instead of the flag of her country.

Meloni arrived in Baghdad today, on her first official visit outside Europe, to visit the Italian forces in Iraq.

As soon as the pictures and videos of the official visit were published, the Iraqi social networking sites were buzzing with the news and how it appeared that the Italian flag with three colors (red, green and white) was closer than it was to the flag of the Republic of Ireland, which consists of the colors (orange, green and white).

However, the Italian embassy in Baghdad settled the controversy when it published a tweet on its official account on Twitter, in which it denied "officially the news of the alleged error related to raising official flags during today's meeting of the Italian Prime Minister, Mrs. Giorga Meloni, with her Iraqi counterpart, Mr. Muhammad al-Sudani, in Baghdad."

And the embassy added in its tweet that "this news is due to the visual effects resulting from the photography," stressing at the same time that "the flags used were all of the Italian Republic."
