The government of South America Chile announced that it has finished ratifying the TPP = Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, in which 11 countries including Japan participate.

It will go into effect in February next year, and the elimination of tariffs will also apply to Chile.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South America Chile announced on the 22nd that it had ratified the TPP, in which 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, participate, and sent a document to the New Zealand government, which serves as the coordinator of the agreement.



Chile is now the tenth party to the treaty.



The Chilean government plans to put the TPP into effect next February, and the abolition of tariffs on agricultural products determined by the TPP will be applied.



Chile has taken an active stance on free trade so far, but the leftist Boric administration, which was inaugurated in March this year, showed a cautious stance on ratifying the TPP, delaying domestic procedures. .



The Chilean government says it will continue to negotiate with the countries concerned regarding the conflict resolution procedures of the state and investors who have expressed concerns.



In addition to the United Kingdom, China, and Taiwan, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Uruguay from Central and South America have also applied to join the TPP.
