“Becoming a member of the North Atlantic Alliance led by the United States means, in fact, completely losing national sovereignty, providing its territory for NATO bases,” the diplomatic mission said in a Telegram message.
The embassy believes that the country's accession to the bloc will lead to the appearance in Swedish ports and airfields of American ships and aircraft with nuclear weapons on board.
The diplomatic mission added that Washington would not ask anyone for permission to deploy nuclear weapons in Sweden.
Earlier, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, said that NATO's actions increase tension on the line of contact with Russia.
