It started almost three years ago in China - presumably at a wild animal market in Wuhan.

A virus jumped from animals to humans.

By spring 2020 at the latest, the whole world was sucked into the virus wave, which spread at breakneck speed.

The political leadership in China imposed draconian measures to stop the spread of the virus in their own country.

Beijing touted the superiority of its own system to foreign countries, which were quite helpless, especially in the initial phase of the pandemic, which is reflected in the allegedly low number of infections.

This message was repeated by many willing "speakers" in many countries.

The price for the people was too high

They've calmed down.

Until late autumn, China was still considered a country that kept the number of infections and victims significantly lower than many others.

But most of them have long been aware that the price that the leadership, and especially the head of state and party leader Xi Jinping, is putting on their people is too high.

For example, the economic metropolis of Shanghai was practically paralyzed for months.

Many of the human tragedies caused by this have not been well known abroad.

But everyone noticed that the global economy was badly damaged.

The problem was that Xi Jinping continued to preach a zero-Covid policy.

Nobody in China can contradict him.

After protest demonstrations, the previously invoked deadly danger suddenly became a “corona cold” – greetings from Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro.

Now China and its healthcare system are being overwhelmed by a wave of infections.

And in the world there is growing fear of mutations that could develop in a population of billions that is poorly protected immunologically.

And the great, officially infallible leader?

Xi travels, Xi talks.

Only about Covid you don't hear anything from him.

The strong man shows weakness.

Does that take revenge for him?
