On Thursday morning, according to Ylva From, group leader within the professional traffic group at the police, it was relatively calm out on the roads with less traffic than usual.

She says that Friday will probably be more intense and that the traffic police will mainly work on being visible and being present along the stretches where the traffic pressure is higher during these days.

These include the major roads national highways 56, 66 and 70 and E18.

- We also have some controls as we also want to work preventively and report if we see deficiencies.

What could be the shortcomings?

- We do some flying inspections and check that the cars are in the condition they need to be, for example that a vehicle may have a broken lamp.

It is very important, especially during this time of year, to have working lighting when it is dark outside.

Be out in time

Some of Ylva From's advice for calm and safe Christmas traffic is to keep your distance, be rested and focus on driving.

- The most important thing is that you are out in good time and make sure that the car is in the required condition.
