It was the summer of 2021 that two men entered a hair salon in Högsbo in Gothenburg and started shooting wildly at one of the customers.

The 22-year-old who was sitting in the hairdresser's chair at the same time as he was shot at died instantly.

While the act was taking place, several other customers and hairdressers were in the salon.

A 20-year-old was outside the hairdressing salon and is now being sentenced for aiding and abetting the brutal murder.

One of the two murderers and the assisting 20-year-old are now sentenced to 12 years in prison each.

The other killer is still at large.

Former part of the same criminal network

According to the police, the murdered person must have previously belonged to the same criminal network as the two convicts.

- They have been in that environment, then something has gone wrong, says Stefan Olofsson, head of investigations at the Greater Gothenburg serious crime section.

According to public prosecutor Maria Thorell, the motive can be linked to the fact that the 22-year-old no longer wanted to be involved.

- Before his death, he wanted to leave the network.

DNA residues from soiled clothing

After the incident, the police were alerted to a fire in a shed half a kilometer away.

There they find one of the decisive finds: fabric remnants from clothes that have been set on fire.

- Despite the fact that there is only a small amount of charred pieces of fabric left, the forensics manage to find DNA on the remains of a hoodie.

It is the 19-year-old's DNA that we find on the clothes that we believe were used in the murder, says Stefan Olofsson.

The second shooter has not been identified

There are currently no other suspects in the crime.

- There has been one more suspect for the murder, but those criminal suspicions have been dropped due to a lack of evidence, said District Attorney Maria Thorell when the charges were brought.

Both the 19-year-old and the 20-year-old are covered by the sentence discount for young people, as the murder took place before the sentence discount was scrapped earlier this year.

The two convicts have previously denied any wrongdoing.
