The Kremlin: The American Patriot system will not thwart Russia's plans in Ukraine

Moscow said on Thursday that the United States' supply of Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, which was announced during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Washington, would not contribute to settling the conflict and would not prevent Russia from achieving its goals.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that there were no indications of willingness to hold peace talks during Zelensky's visit, considering this evidence that the United States is fighting a proxy war with Russia "to the last Ukrainian."

Regarding the Patriot missile systems, Peskov said, "This is not conducive to a quick settlement, quite the opposite. It also cannot prevent the Russian Federation from achieving its objectives of the special military operation," which is the Russian term for a war that has claimed tens of thousands of lives.

Zelensky told the US Congress that providing aid to his country is an investment in democracy, and talked about the battles against the Nazis in World War II to press for more help in the war against Russia.

Zelensky described the introduction of the system as an important step in creating an air shield.
