Just over 19,300 tickets sold.

Yes, the musical Titanic, about the Atlantic liner that sank on its maiden voyage on April 15, 1912, has made audiences from all over Sweden travel to Karlstad.

- It's a slightly different audience than we're used to.

We probably didn't think that Titanic in itself is a topic that people are interested in, says Pernilla Bergland Eduard, marketing manager at Wermland Opera.

Budgeted carefully

Before the Swedish premiere in September, there was concern that the audience did not dare to return after the corona pandemic.

That is why they budgeted carefully.

And it has only happened on a few occasions in the past that performances went to completely sold out houses, specifically the musical Les Miserables in 1996 and the opera Don Giovanni in 2005.

But despite the high audience pressure, there are no plans for extra performances.

Immediately after the New Year's holiday, the sets are demolished and new ones are built for the next project – Verdi's opera Aida.
