• Extraordinary draw This is how the last hours before the Christmas Lottery are lived: "I have El Gordo"

The capacity of the Puerta del Sol during the next New Year's Eve and the preuvas will once again be limited despite the fact that the pandemic has been overcome.

The figure not closed proposed by the

Municipal Police

is about

10,000 people

, while the

Government Delegation

and the

National Police

advocate placing the capacity at a maximum of about

8,000 people

.

It must be remembered that before the pandemic the capacity reached 25,000 people in 2016 and that at the chimes of 2019 it was reduced to 18,000.

In 2020 they were banned and last year they were restricted to 7,000 people.

This year it has been decided to expand the capacity of the Puerta del Sol, but due to the works and the security measures the figure managed by the

City Council

is about 10,000 people.

All in all, this number could change in the coming days, since there are still some works to be completed at Puerta del Sol and the space reserved for the media and security forces has not yet been established, which will be proportional depending on the capacity of the

kilometer zero

.

Puerta del Sol has an area of 12,000 square meters, but it is estimated that there will be around 9,000 available for that day.

In addition, there will be

300 agents

between the Municipal Police and the National Police in the security device.

Likewise, attendees must go through two filters before reaching Sol, one about 100 meters away and another at the gates of kilometer zero.

On the afternoon of the 30th, the security forces will also work on the security of the trial.

On behalf of the National Police there will be agents from the

Police Intervention Unit (UIP), Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), Mobile Section, Canine Guides and Underground Teams.

Both on Friday 30 and Saturday 31, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Police Intervention Unit, supported by the Prevention and Reaction Unit and members of the Municipal Police, will proceed to the total eviction of Puerta del Sol, using the streets adjacent so that SELUR (Special Urgent Cleaning Service) personnel can clean the place and remove waste.

Once evicted and inspected by police officers, access to the square will be allowed through Alcalá, Carrera de San Jerónimo, Mayor and Arenal streets.

Access control to Puerta del Sol, both on the 30th and for the chimes of the 31st, will be carried out using

pedestrian filters

, with the aim of counting attendees up to the maximum set and preventing the entry of elements that may pose a risk to the public. citizen security (glasses, blunt objects...).

The filters will be carried out, through the installation of fences, by both the Municipal Police (with the presence of drones from the Air Support Section) and the National Police, and the count will be carried out by Civil Protection at the

four access points

to the Puerta del Sol (in the filters of Calle Mayor, Arenal, Alcalá and Carrera de San Jerónimo), constantly reporting to the command post located at the regional government headquarters.

Likewise, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, an Operational Coordination Center (CECOR) will be established at 10:00 p.m. on the 30th and 31st, made up of the operational commands of the National Police and Municipal Police, as well as those responsible of the other agencies involved.

A total of

579 agents

of the National Police will participate in the security devices for Christmas events in Madrid, such as the Christmas Lottery Draw, the Campanadas themselves or the different parades of the Three Kings.

Today, Thursday, the security of the traditional raffle at the

Teatro Real

will be reinforced to prevent activists or other people from going on stage, according to what the Government delegate, Mercedes González, indicated yesterday after holding a meeting with those responsible for emergency services, transport and the City hall.
