Italian Prime Minister visits her country's forces in Iraq

On Thursday evening, on the occasion of Christmas, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will visit the Italian forces stationed in Iraq, her media office announced.

According to the website of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Italy publishes a member of NATO about 650 people in Iraq and Kuwait in the framework of the "Prima Partica" operation.

These soldiers operate in multinational command centers in Kuwait and in Baghdad and Erbil in Iraq.

They take care of the training of the Iraqi armed forces and police and also provide administrative support to them.

Meloni, leader of the far-right "Brotherhood of Italy" (Fratelli d'Italia) party, became the country's first female prime minister in October.

She heads the most right-wing government in Italy since World War II.

She had announced this trip during a meeting with parliamentarians from her party, as well as visits by other ministers to the Italian military, information confirmed by her spokesperson.
