In order to review the structure of the Science Council of Japan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno emphasized his intention to proceed with consideration of related law revisions while listening to the opinions of the Science Council.

Regarding the review of the organization of the Science Council of Japan, the government presented an overview of the revision of the law at the general meeting of the Science Council on the 21st, including the establishment of a third-party committee to provide opinions on the selection of members. However, the Science Council has compiled a statement asking the government to reconsider, saying, ``There are doubts even in the light of the independence of the council.''

Regarding this, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno said at a press conference, "We will continue to carefully explain the government's policy, and while listening to the opinions of the Science Council of Japan, we will consider concrete measures for legislation."

In addition, regarding the fact that the Science Council continued to seek the appointment of six member candidates that former Prime Minister Suga did not appoint two years ago, he said, ``In line with the Science Council of Japan Law, the then Prime Minister has made the final decision, and we are aware that the series of procedures has been completed."
