It was in the afternoon of May 23 that a 25-year-old man was shot to death at a pedestrian crossing at Bellmansplan in Eskilstuna.

It appears from the indictment that the murder can be considered a pure execution.

The man was shot with at least nine shots and many people, including children, were at the scene and witnessed the crime.

The then 17-year-old suspected perpetrator was arrested a few days after the fatal shooting.

He has always denied the allegations.

But on Thursday came the district court's verdict - eight years in prison.

The number of shootings is at record high levels in Eskilstuna this year.

Between 2018 and 2021, it was shot a total of 34 times – to compare with 32 shootings this year alone.
