He commented on plans to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Kyiv amid warnings from Moscow that this would lead to further escalation.

“We will continue to support the Ukrainians with what they need and when they need, regardless of the rhetoric,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden, during a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington, said that the United States would continue to increase military assistance to Kyiv.

Biden added that the United States intends to transfer the Patriot air defense system and train the Ukrainian military.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the supply of Patriot systems to Kyiv would increase the risk of direct involvement of the US army in the Ukrainian conflict.
