Special Committee for State Affairs Investigation into the Itaewon Disaster conducted its first on-site investigation with members from both the ruling and opposition parties participating.



The members of the special committee first visited the joint incense burner in Itaewon to pay condolences, and then visited the site of the disaster in the alleyway next to Exit 1 of Itaewon Station.

When the members of the special committee visited the Itaewon police box, one of the bereaved family members fainted while weeping in front of the police box, and an ambulance was dispatched.



Afterward, the members of the special committee plan to visit the 112 situation room of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and investigate why the response was delayed even though reports were flooded on the day of the disaster.



Next, we plan to visit the Seoul City Hall Disaster Management Center to check whether the disaster text message was properly sent on the same day.



The special committee plans to conduct a second on-site investigation the day after tomorrow (23rd) against the Yongsan-gu Office and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, and then receive reports from organizations such as the Presidential Office's Office of State Affairs starting next week.
