The Bolloré group officially sells its African activities to the shipowner MSC
Bolloré Logistics is selling its African infrastructure to the Italian-Swiss shipping company MSC.

Bolloré announced on December 1 that it had obtained the regulatory authorizations for the sale of its logistics activities in Africa for the benefit of the Italian-Swiss shipowner MSC.

In a press release, the French company announces the completion this Wednesday of the 100% sale of Bolloré Africa Logistics to
the MSC Group
.
This concerns all the transport and logistics activities of the Bolloré group on the continent.
The transaction was made for a total amount of 5.7 billion euros.
Faced with increasingly costly investments and increasingly tough competition from Chinese operators, Bolloré had decided to sell its activities.
The group was also at the heart of several corruption scandals in Togo and Guinea.
Quasi-monopoly situation for MSC
It is therefore an important page for the Bolloré group which is turning, which began with the takeover almost 40 years ago of the commercial charter and fuel company.
As for MSC, world leader in maritime transport and already very present in land transport in Africa, will thus considerably strengthen its port assets.
For example, it finds itself in a situation of virtual monopoly on container traffic in Lomé, the leading container port in West Africa.
However, this transfer does not sign the end of
Bolloré in Africa.
The group specifies that it “
will maintain a significant presence
” on the continent.
Through Canal+ in particular and its various activities in communication, entertainment, telecoms and publishing.
