Lee Jae-myeong, representative of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "A regime that does not sympathize with the people's bloody tears and the state's responsibility for the people's pain, life and safety is an immoral regime."

Representative Lee said this at the National Assembly's Supreme Council meeting on the morning of the 21st and urged, "Even now, the government's failure to fulfill its responsibility to protect life and safety must be acknowledged and the president must officially apologize to the bereaved family and the people."

They also demanded the dismissal of Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min and stern censure of those involved.

Representative Lee said that it was appropriate for the people's power to return to the Itaewon disaster government investigation, saying, "Before that, the people's power has something to do. We need to apologize for the wrongdoing and take responsibility first.”
