An accident occurred Monday afternoon on a construction site located in Les Arcs (Savoie).

While digging with a backhoe around 1 p.m., a worker cut a 20,000-volt power line.

The man was immediately electrified, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie.

He was taken care of by the emergency services and transported to the hospital of Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

His vital prognosis is not engaged.

This incident not only injured the worker.

It also caused a major power cut in the Tarentaise valley ski resort.

The area was without power for several hours in the afternoon.

Firefighters went to the scene to help people in the elevators.

In addition, the power outage impacted three of the resort's chairlifts.

In order to ensure the safety of skiers present on the lifts and to evacuate them, the ski area was therefore forced to activate its emergency engines.

In total, the lifts remained out of service for more than two hours.
