On the forecourt of the cinema, a few celebrities like Youssou N'Dour, but above all curious people from Dakar.

The public was there and for many the film had a personal resonance.

For them,

Tirailleurs

, which tells the story of two Senegalese torn from their country to go and fight for France, resonates strongly: “

I am speaking to you, my grandfather fought in the First World War.

Unfortunately, I did not know him, but I bear his name.

While watching the film, I also thought of him

 ”.

Rehabilitate memory, but also transmit a page of history to the youngest.

Maguette, who works in finance, came to see the film with her two daughters.

It is a pleasure to come with my children.

It was very interesting, it allows them to also know the history, the links between France and Africa.

Maguette's daughter, Maya, is 14 years old.

She leaves the screening very moved: “

We had just learned the French version, the French point of view.

But we hadn't seen the point of view of the other skirmishers, you understand?

And it showed how much it was not their will to go and participate in the war.

Tirailleurs

will be released in French and West African cinemas on January 4th.
