"Artist in residence" is called when artists through an organization get a place to live and work for a period, because they need protection or new inspiration.
In Riddarhyttan, the couple Jan Dahlberg and Elisabeth Billing have renovated a 19th century house with the intention of trying to create an artist residency.
The first guests are Serhio Pohrebyskyi and his wife, both educated at the National Academy of fine arts in Ukraine, and their cat Tom.
Sergio's artistry is very much about trees, which is one of the reasons why he was chosen, he says, while adding more wood to the stove.
- This is where the circle ends, we burn the trees that help us with so much, they create the air we breathe, keep us warm and give us something to write or paint on, it's both complicated and very interesting, says Serhio Pohrebyskyi.
