In 1948, Israel occupied Palestinian cities and villages within the events of the Nakba, which became called the lands of the occupied interior, such as Jaffa, Acre, Haifa, and Nazareth. .

Currently, and before the end of the year 2022, Israel plans to link the towns that displaced their owners in 1948, and the lands it occupied in 1967, directly, without the need to pass through the lands of the holy city center.

To achieve this, the municipality of the “Ma’aleh Adumim” settlement, which is located on the lands of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and the Israeli Ministry of Construction and Housing are planning to build a new settlement road, linking the settlements of Jerusalem, with the Jewish neighborhoods in the lands of the Palestinian coast in the occupied interior.

In this regard, the Israeli newspaper “Kol Ha’ir” said: “The mayor of Ma’ale Adumim, Bani Kashriel, held a working meeting in his office with the administration of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, in which he presented the plans linking Street 433 and (Mishor Adumim), and the municipality of Ma’ale Adumim indicates He pointed out that it is a two-lane road, and in the middle there is a separating island, and there are also two lanes for public transportation.

The settlement road starts from the Mishor Adumim settlement, east of Jerusalem, the industrial zone in the village of Khan al-Ahmar, and the settlement bypass road No. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, all the way to the “Gush Dan” community in Tel Aviv, which is a gathering of Jewish urban neighborhoods perched on the lands of the Palestinian coast in the occupied interior.

According to the Israeli newspaper “Kol Ha’ir”, the settlement road in its final form will allow the residents of the “Gush Adumim” settlement, including the residents of the “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement, to reach directly from the “Hizma” intersection towards “Gush Dan”, without the need to pass through Jerusalem. And through the French Hill intersection, with a quick and direct connection to the “Menachem Begin” road in Tel Aviv.

On the other hand, the former mayor of Hizma, Musallam Abu Helo, states that the plan of the new street is based on the route of settlement road No. (437) in the town of "Hizma", and passes through the street of the settlement of "Adam" or "Giva Binyamin", which is located on the lands of "Hizma". , to be connected to several settlement bypass streets, to find a street without traffic lights that leads to the “Gush Dan” community.

In his interview with "Emirates Today", Abu Helo indicated that the new settlement road, which is 75 kilometers long, confiscates thousands of dunams within the targeted Palestinian lands that this road penetrates, especially the areas of eastern Jerusalem, and the towns of "Hizma", "Anata" and "Al-Issawiya".

The former head of the municipality of Hizma says: “The current situation in the town of Hizma, as a result of the new street plan proposed for implementation, is unbearable, as the town will become an isolated area within an area of one kilo (thousand dunums) only, after its area was more than (14 thousand dunums). ».

He adds that "all the Palestinian lands located in the path of the street will be linked to them, to facilitate the movement of settlers from the occupied interior and the (Gush Dan) bloc to the settlements east of Jerusalem, and to double their numbers."

Annexation and displacement

For his part, the researcher on Jerusalem affairs, Fakhri Abu Diab, says that linking the occupation of the lands occupied in 1948 with the lands it seized in 1967, through the new settlement road, means crossing out the so-called “green line” separating them, and doubling settlement within the Palestinian towns located In this region, many settlements are being established, its entire lands are confiscated, and its lands are linked with the cities of the occupied Palestinian interior and the Holy City.

And he adds, “In order to implement the new settlement project, the occupation will expel and displace (7,000) Palestinians within the Palestinian Bedouin communities east of Jerusalem, which number (26) Bedouin communities, the most important and largest of which are the Khan al-Ahmar community and the Jabal al-Baba community, and they will be effectively annexed to the settlements that are located on the lands of the Holy City.” Eastern".

Abu Diab points out that the settlement street plan paves the way for the imposition of complete annexation, by starting with preparing the infrastructure, streets and roads, leading to the occupation completing its settlement project from the “Mishor Adumim” settlement to the Dead Sea area in the city of Jericho, all the way to the Jordanian-Palestinian border, where the vast areas of the Jordan Valley are located. .

• To implement the new project, the occupation will expel and displace (7000) Palestinians within the Palestinian Bedouin communities east of Jerusalem, which number (26) communities.

• The new settlement road, confiscating thousands of dunams inside the targeted Palestinian lands that it penetrates, especially the areas of East Jerusalem, and the towns of "Hizma", "Anata" and "Al-Issawiya".
