An explosion occurred in an apartment in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis) this Monday afternoon.

A man living in the accommodation was slightly injured.

The explosion was due to a gas leak, reports

Le Parisien

.

Forty firefighters were dispatched to the site to examine the building and evacuate it.

A risk of collapse was indeed not to be excluded after a crack appeared on a wall.

The four-storey building has a total of thirteen apartments, but some were empty.

In all, a dozen families had to leave the premises.

The municipality helped them to take steps with their insurance and all were rehoused.

Evacuated residents will be able to return to their accommodation, once an expert report has ruled out any danger.

An expert from the police headquarters mandated by the municipality will therefore examine the building and the buildings that surround it.

The condominium affected was being renovated and the apartment where the explosion took place had just been the subject of work.
