A 'human heart' was found out of nowhere in a salt farm located in Tennessee, USA, and local authorities launched an investigation.

According to foreign media such as NBC and The Guardian on the 20th local time, a human heart was recently found in a salt field located in McEwan, Humphreys County, Tennessee, USA.

The salt farm is operated by the State Department of Transportation, and the heart of the problem was first discovered by workers who were working at the time.

Workers who found the heart in the process of moving salt from storage initially thought it was a 'stone', but reported it because they thought it was odd in shape.

The local authorities who started the investigation released a statement on the 18th saying, "The heart found as a result of a biopsy at the Tennessee Medical Examination Office was confirmed to be that of an adult male."

The authorities then said, "We plan to conduct an additional DNA test to confirm the identity of the owner of the heart."

The State Department of Transportation, which operated the salt farm, also said it would "fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation."

Investigative authorities classified the salt farm where the heart was found as a crime scene, while not revealing details such as how long the heart was in the salt pond.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said the salt had dehydrated his heart and appeared to have been buried in salt for some time.

He said, "I've been working in law enforcement for 32 years, but this case is really strange."
