The spread of covid-19, RS virus and influenza are all increasing at the same time and it is taking a toll on hospitals around the country.

Now the Västra Götaland region is tightening the recommendations regarding mouth protection, something that GP was the first to report on.

Visitors in healthcare are asked to use a mouth guard when visiting patients.

- The most important thing when you come as a visitor is that you are healthy.

The second is that you keep your distance, and if you can't do that, you must wear a mouth guard.

We have a situation that is unusual, that we have three different viruses that take up a lot of space.

We all want to prevent the spread of infection, says Marga Brisman.

The call to staff

The region also urges its staff to only conduct gatherings if they can be kept infection-free.

- We see that we have several positive cases among employees, therefore we have gone out and offered extra compensation for those who take extra shifts, so that those who got time off over Christmas and New Year can get time off.

- The most important thing is that you should not meet others when you are sick, says Marga Brisman.

In the clip, Tobias Carlsson, director of the Sahlgrenska Acute Development Center, gives three tips for staying healthy before the Christmas holiday.
