The

Christmas weekend

will be dominated by the arrival of new Atlantic storms that will bring rain, with a greater incidence in the northwestern half of the peninsula, and by somewhat warmer temperatures than normal, a trend that will persist during the first weeks of 2023.

According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the entry of an

Atlantic front

next Friday will leave rainfall in the northwest of the country, which will last in the same areas on Saturday, Christmas Eve, although there is still some inaccuracy. as to its location and exact evolution.

Low

pressures

will remain over the North Atlantic for much of this week, and very cloudy skies are expected tomorrow in the northwest of the peninsula with rains that will extend from west to east throughout the day, and may be strong or persistent in Galicia , west of the Central System and south of the Cantabrian Mountains.

In the rest of the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands

, the weather will be more stable,

although an increase in cloudiness is expected from west to east, without ruling out rain, except in the southeast of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands where they are not expected;

The snow level will be above 2,000 meters due to the prevailing wind from the south.

Regarding the

maximum temperatures,

on Tuesday they will rise in the southeast and the minimum will also rise, more pronounced in the interior of the western half of the peninsula, with values higher than usual for the time of year.

In the Canary Islands, little clouds, with a probability of haze in the eastern islands, maximum temperatures with slight decreases and a predominance of light wind from the east component.

For Wednesday and Thursday, despite the low Atlantic pressures, the presence of an African anticyclone will affect the southern half of the peninsula, and will block the passage of the Atlantic fronts, so that these will only affect the northwest of the peninsula.

For this reason, light rains are expected in Galicia on Wednesday and continue through Thursday, while in the interior of the peninsula the precipitations can be scattered and occasional, increasing stability on Thursday.

From the Aemet they have indicated that for those days "snowfall is not expected" and with temperatures without significant changes.
