Puleva incorporates caps attached to the container in its entire range of 1-liter slim format, as a sign of its commitment to the circular economy and sustainable development.

One of the advantages of these stoppers is the ease of recycling, because the brik and the stopper will be deposited together, in the simplest way, in the yellow container.

Every year, Lactalis Puleva uses 577.6 million caps for its brik containers, which is equivalent to a total of 1,762 tons of plastic.

Thanks to the union between the container and the cap, there is the certainty that all the packaging produced will be recycled and, in addition, the cap will be prevented from ending up in nature and causing environmental pollution.

This new initiative will be progressively implemented in the coming months and will incorporate practical information on the packaging to guide consumers.

Committed to sustainable development

In addition to the incorporation of this stopper, the company is progressively renewing its containers, stoppers and straws, opting for others of mostly vegetable origin, which further favor the circular economy and care for the environment.

One of the most important measures has been the migration of its entire liter (slim) range to the most renewable plant-based container on the market, Bio-Based, which means eliminating 3,027 tons of fossil plastic from the market.

Also noteworthy is the replacement of the plastic straw in the 200ml slim-fit containers of milkshakes and infant milk with a 100% recyclable paper straw.

This change is assuming the effective elimination of 180 million plastic straws each year.

This change joins others already implemented, such as the increase in the amount of recycled plastic in secondary films, going from 30% to 50%, and which allows the reuse of 412 tons of plastic from the yellow container per year;

or the use of 100% recycled original cardboard in the packaging of all 1-litre carton and glass milkshake groups.

Lactalis Puleva thus reinforces its commitment to the circular economy and sustainable development, anticipating European legal requirements.

Other commitments

Lactalis Puleva continues to work to guarantee the economic sustainability of its activity, because this is the only way to guarantee the future of the livestock sector, the population's access to healthy and tasty food, while protecting the planet and its resources.

Aware of the social, economic, ethical, legal and environmental responsibility it has with the environment in which it operates and its impact, especially important in rural areas, the Lactalis Group annually publishes its corporate responsibility report, which details the commitments and main advances in these and other matters.
