The County Board's role is to review and approve the moose management and moose husbandry plans that are drawn up for all areas.

But it is not the county board, but the hunters and the landowners, who must jointly decide how many moose are to be shot in each area.

- We do not have a direct opinion on how many moose should be shot, the hunters and the landowners must jointly decide that.

That's what Sara Lindqvist, who is a wildlife officer at the County Administrative Board in Jämtland, says.

Fewer moose have been shot in the county in recent years, but that is also a result of a stated goal, points out Sara Lindqvist.

- The size of today's moose population and the allocation of how many are to be shot is a result of joint goals from both hunters and landowners to reduce the moose population over time, which they have succeeded in doing.
